Lennie-chapter 5

In chapter five Lennie's behavour changes.  He goes from being inocent to quite violent, for example when everyone at the ranch was out lennie was in the barn petting the pup's. george had previously told Lennie not to pet these puppies because he could hurt them, however lennie ignored this rule, this shows that lennie can not really fully constontrate on one thing and you usually find this trate in young children.  so as lennie was petting these puppies one of them had died, lennies reaction to this was, "Why do you gotta get killed? You ain't so little as mice. I didn't bounce you hard." this shows that lennie didnt really understand why this puppie was dead, but he knew he had done something wrong and there  would be consequences.  this quote shows that lennie is mentaly disabled because he doesnt feel any pitty on this dead puppie and he didnt understand why this puppie had died even though he had bounced it.  After that lennie said " “Now I won’t get to tend the rabbits. Now he won’t let me.”  this represents that lennie doesnt feel any sympathy towards this dead puppie because all he is thinking about is tending rabits, that implies that he is quite simplim minded because a typical person would not be thinking about things like that in the future if they have just murded a puppie.
Another scenario that shows trates of Lennie's personality was when he killed curlys wife.  Lennie went from being calm to very paniced.  firstly curly was stoking curlys wifes hair then the next minute he has grabbing her neck once he started to attack her he was unable to stop.  steinbeck shows this panic well because if you are in that situation your mind gets very confused and you are unable to know whats right and whats wrong, this is even harder for Lennie becaause he is mentaly disabled this is why he killed Lennies wife.  Lennie came across quite visious becaus he was handeling curlys wife like a rag doll, this quote shows this- "she flopped to the floor like a fish" this shows that lennie didnt realy care if she was dead or not he was just thinking about the concequences for himself, you could see this as selfishness but you could feel sorry for lennie because he is scared and doesnt fully understand the situation of life and death.

charecter profiles of mice and men

George-"small and quick" suggests that he is small but can get around quickly, he is quite sneeky.  "dressed in denim" works on the ranch.  "slender arms" means that he could be quite skinny.  he is quite caring and looks out for lennie.

Lennie-"walked heavily" suggests that he is quite heavy and big, and can not really pick his feet of the ground.  this could also mean he has the mind of a child, he might not really want to walk anywhere so he is dragging his feet.  "snorting into the water like a horse" could mean that he has animal chareistics.  Lennie is quite slow, and needs support through life.

Curly-"little guy" suggests he is small.  "scrappy"  candy is always up for fight, because he is the bosses son, so there will be no consequence for him, only the people he gets into fights with.  Candy picks on bigger guys because if he got hurt by a bigger man it would look asif the fight is unfair because the man should 'pick on somebody his own size' and if he wins he looks good because he has hurt someone who is proberly physically stronger.

Candy-"stooped shoulders" suggests he is old and is unable to stand straight.  Candy only has on hand, and he works on the ranch.  he has an "accient dog" which represents Candy himself, candy has had this dog since it was a puppy and now the dog is very old and whittered like him.

Curlys wife-takes pride in her apprearance, she had full rouged lips. she wears quite attentionseeking clothes that would get her noticed on a ranch.  she wears a lot of red, this could mean two different thigs, she is evil like the devil or she is loving.  She is very flirty with the all the men, thats why nobody has any respect for her, and thats why she is known as "curlys wife" it is like all respect values have been stolen from her.

Slim-"a talll man" this could mean he stands quite confidently.  "prince of the ranch"  this means that workers on the ranch have built up alot of repect for slim.  "he moved with a magestic, only avheived by royalty and mastercraftsmen"  this states that slim walks round the ranch knowing everybody respects him, and he makes people quite intimedated, however once you get to know him he is quite thoughtfull.

my charecter is a tourist from france, called alexandra sheen, she is 25 and has a boyfriend called ryan.  it is there first time in America.  Alexandra was capturing a shot of the twin towers as it was hit by a plane, she couldn't believe what she was witnessing. in the caos around she lost her boyfriend . Alone, affraid and not knowing where her boyfriend was, she saw the disaster unfold infront of her eyes. Alexandra will be telling this story.  Lydia.s

I love celebrity Big Brother, the three reasons I love it is because, you get to know what celebrities are like and see if they are fake or not.  There is alot of arguments in the house that I like to watch.  When the season starts its on everynight, thats good because you do not have to wait for another week to watch the next episode. Lydia.S
